Welcome to our website
Bedfield is a small village situated about four miles east of Debenham and some five miles west of Framlingham. Neighbouring villages are Monk Soham, Tannington, Earl Soham and Worlingworth. It has a population of about 300 (2001 Census) mainly centred on the main Worlingworth to Earl Soham road through the village at Long Green and Little Green.

Next Meeting
The next full meeting of he Parish Council will be held on Thursday 10th May 2012 commencing 1930 at Bedfield Sports Pavilion and everyone will be made to feel welcome.
This will also be the AGM and be followed at approximately 2100 by the Annual Village Meeting. The central theme of the Village Meeting will be the future direction of the Sports Club and requirements for the pavilion refurbishment vis a vis a new build. The views of EVERYONE will be greatly appreciated at this event. More details will be published nearer the time.
The latest (August 2011) newsletter has been recently distributed around Bedfield by Steve Tuckwell. See BED Newsletter July 2011 It is hoped to distribute the next one in February 2012.

Planning Applications
MSDC ref 2366//11 - application to build a bungalow on land at EDALE, Bedfield Long Green. The Parish Council have notified MSDC of their support for this application. This has now been rejected by MSDC at a final meeting of MSDC Planning Committee because of the VIOS status in respect of the proposed plot. An appeal is being considered by the applicant.
MSDC ref 2706/11 - application to build a single story dwelling on land adjacent to Alder Cottage, Southolt Road, Bedfield. After two extraordinary meetings to consider this application, the Parish Council voted to oppose the application. Despite this, the application has been approved by MSDC.
MSDC ref: 3881/11 - application to alter existing planning permission (2764/11) in respect of two dormer windows at Wits End, Church Road, Bedfield. The Parish Council offered no objections. It has now been approved by MSDC.
MSDC ref: 3869/11 - application to alter exisiting planning application 2786/10 for the Unitarian Chapel, Long Green Bedfield. This was discussed at an extraordinary meeting commencing 1930 on Wednesday 7th December 2011 and we voted to offer no objection. This has now ben aprroved by MSDC.
MSDC ref: 4015/11 - application for change of use of agricultural land to stables etc at Shalom, Long Green. The Parish Council offered no objections to this application.
MSDC ref: 4141/11 - Application to minor variations in the design of the houses proposd for off Chicken Alley next to the Olde Rectory. The Parish Council offered no objection to this proposal.
